George Strait Starts 2011 Tour and Honors Military in AUSTIN, TX

2011 Tour Kicks off This Weekend with Strait’s Introduction of “Red Shirt Fridays”

Nashville, TN (January 11, 2011) – Pollstar recently announced it’s “Top 50 North American Tours for 2010” and ACM Artist of the Decade George Strait with superstar entertainer Reba and traditionalist Lee Ann Womack landed the top country music tour of the year. The tour was #14 on the overall Top 50 list grossing over $41.6 million.

Strait continues the successful pairing when he, Reba & Lee Ann kick off 2011 this Friday at the Frank Erwin Center in Austin, TX. In addition to being the first date on the 2011 tour, Friday will be another first for Strait. The legendary singer and military vet has teamed up with RedShirtsFridays.org to show support for US military servicemen and women. He personally began participating in “Red Shirt Friday” during the holidays and will continue that tradition this Friday as he wears a red shirt to perform at the Austin tour stop. Strait is also encouraging fans to wear red shirts to all of his Friday shows.

“We are going to wear red shirts to every Friday’s tour date and we encourage the fans to do the same,” exclaims Strait. “I want to see a building full of red shirts if possible.”
