“Beck & Cauthen” Change Their Name to “Sons of Fathers”

Not a Speck of Beck Remaining

Sons of Fathers performing liveAustin, TX – Sep. 13, 2011 – As explained on their Facebook page, David Whitbeck (stage name David Beck), Paul Cauthen & Co have changed the name of their band from “Beck & Cauthen” to “Sons of Fathers”.   This corresponds with the name of their debut album.

To our surprise, we got a letter last week from representatives of Beck, who asked us to change it. We don’t want to create confusion with Beck, or for that matter Jeff Beck, Glenn Beck, Beck’s beer, or any other Beck. We hope he listened to some tunes from the new album, also called ‘Sons of Fathers!’ …

If you are not familiar with these troubadours, you can catch an informal video of one of their recent performances in a NYC venue: http://youtu.be/wqi3oMO0W-A.

It was a sign for us to change the name to something that included the whole band, not just a duo. We are all in this together and we all play a role. We used the phrase “Sons of Fathers” long before we wrote the song and changed the band name. It is our expression about the past, our families, our roots and who we are, good or bad, right or wrong.

Sons of Fathers – It’s who we are and we all stand for it.

Wishing them the best of luck as they continue to create their music.
