About Us!
Raised Country! is the affectionate project of Mike and Liz Strong in Austin, TX, launched in October of 2009. Like throwing a $5 bill in an empty tip jar to get things started, Mike started the site with some of his own childhood memories. Mike and Liz are eager to hear yours!

Raised Country! is a place where you can tell all of us about memorable experiences that you had in a rural, country setting. The only requirements are that your post must be clean enough for a broader audience, and they should be at least 70% true!
Also, we strongly discourage putting anything out there about any shenanigans you did that were against the law. The statute of limitations might not protect you from all of the possible repercussions, and, honestly, we don’t want to git in the middle of it!! Heh heh.
If your story is selected as a candidate for one of our “Best Country Tall Tales” anthology books, we will contact you and get your permission, in writing, for its inclusion in a book. Then, any profits from the sale of the book will be shared with you and its other contributors, after Raised Country takes 1/3rd of the profits. Your revenue would be a percentage of the remaining 2/3rds, based on the number of other stories in the book.
Don’t see your story? Some posting may be listed in one or more pages on the RaisedCountry site, based upon their category. Some “PG rated” stories appear in the “Authentic, But Harsh“ page.
Be aware that some PG rated stories may appear on the front page. Check the ratings at the top of the story to determine suitability for the reader.
